To Carolyn Bailey, AR Zone…

To Carolyn Bailey, AR Zone – Okay, Carolyn, you can have the last word – but before that, I must say how disappointed I am to conclude that you and Tim have demonstrated that you are not qualified to moderate AR Zone, or really – anything associated with “AR”. You support an organization, the Humane Society of the United States, whose murderous policies are beyond detrimental to animals. I accepted your invitation to be interviewed to explain why, knowing full-well that Tim intended for it to be hostile and confrontational. Your refusal to publish the interview simply shows that you and Tim have something to hide – perhaps his rude behavior and bizarre opinions about animal issues.
You publicly blame me for your decision not to post, with Tim calling me everything from stupid to an idiot to a liar to Boob Linden. Such personal attacks are usually an indication of a desire to distract from the real issues. You contend that I don’t know the real issues. Isn’t that what you and Tim intended to expose by inviting me for the interview? I would have thought you would have rushed to publish that. You also say I wasn’t interested in civil dialogue – just grandstanding, insults, and name-calling.
I don’t know what to believe from you Carolyn. You almost seem like another person, as if you were not the one who emailed me the following after the recording of the interview:

Hey Bob!

I want, firstly, and most importantly, to thank you again for being the type of person who is willing to share his thoughts, and enter into discussion with others – particularly given that you knew that discussion wasn’t going to be easy. It’s a real shame there aren’t more people willing to do that in the advocacy community. Perhaps we’d be doing a little better on a global scale of educating and speaking with non-vegans if more people were willing to discuss the important issues that affect our advocacy!

I’ve listened to the podcast we recorded last week a number of times now, and, although I do still feel an obligation to publish the podcast, I’m not able to find a reason, other than that, to do so. I’m concerned that, given the discussion developed into an unpleasant and, at times, nasty and rude discussion, publishing it would be detrimental to the goals and mission of ARZone, and would be of no use to the advocates we are trying to reach.

I think that both you and Tim have given the issues concerning our relations with other animals considerable thought, and it’s a great shame that we weren’t able to come away with something that was appropriate to be published, and that could be helpful to others. The discussion about the HSUS is something I think needs to be had, and if you’re ever interested in having that discussion again, I would love to be part of it! It’s been suggested that we should try again in a more formal style with you and Tim. If you’re interested, please let me know.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate in letting me know, Bob!

Thanks again for being willing to enter into dialogue about these important issues!
